About Lemelson Vineyards
Lemelson Vineyards is a certified-organic, family-owned estate in the hills outside Carlton, in the Yamhill-Carlton district of the Willamette Valley. It was founded by Eric Lemelson, son of the noted independent inventor Jerome Lemelson, who moved to Oregon in 1979, planted his first vineyard in 1995, and released the inaugural Lemelson wines from the 1999 vintage.
The estate spans several organically farmed vineyards across three AVAs, with a range of soils, exposures, and elevations. Wines are made in a purpose-built, gravity-flow winery powered in part by solar, an approach meant to handle the fruit gently and tread lightly on the land. The focus is estate-grown, single-vineyard Pinot Noir, alongside Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and a rose.
The tasting room sits above the vineyards with sweeping views of the Yamhill Valley, open daily from 11am to 4pm. Tastings run indoors or on the patio, walk-ins are welcome when space allows, and well-behaved dogs and picnics are welcome outdoors. Wines have earned strong critical marks since the first release, including two appearances on Wine Spectator's Top 100.
A certified-organic Carlton estate built around gravity-flow winemaking and site-driven Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.
