About LIOCO Wine Company
LIOCO Wine Company was at the vanguard of the New California Wine movement, and since 2005 has been making restrained, site-driven wines from some of Northern California's greatest vineyards. It was conceived, fittingly, in the alley behind Spago Beverly Hills by wine director Kevin O'Connor and wine salesman Matt Licklider, and is today owned and run by the Licklider family, husband-and-wife Matt and Sara.
Inspired by traditional European wine and the leaner California wines of the 1970s, they seek out what they call special places, dry-farmed and organic vineyards with old vines and unique clones, across Sonoma, Mendocino and the Santa Cruz Mountains. The focus is cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, along with heirloom Carignan and the occasional Valdiguie or old-vine Sauvignon Blanc, all made with a minimalist hand. The approach has earned LIOCO a spot on elite wine lists, charter membership in In Pursuit of Balance, and three Wine & Spirits Top 100 Wineries of the Year nods.
The chic, retro tasting room sits just off the Healdsburg square, open daily and dog-friendly, with flights, wines by the glass and small plates.
