About Lone Madrone

Lone Madrone is the family label of Neil Collins, the longtime winemaker at Tablas Creek and one of west Paso's foundational figures. Founded in 1996 and named for a single madrone tree over a Willow Creek vineyard, it draws on dry-farmed, organically farmed, head-trained sites to make characterful, terroir-driven wines across an unusually wide range, from Cabernet and Chenin Blanc to Rhone blends, Nebbiolo, and Tannat, plus Bristols hard cider.

Tastings are relaxed and personal, with patio flights of estate and dry-farmed wines and a weekend kitchen serving locally sourced fare. Now with a second generation involved, it is a genuine expression of west-Paso soul, ideal for curious drinkers who want substance, family history, and something off the beaten path.

Lone Madrone isLone Madrone is the most personally Italian-AND-Rhône-variety-dually-obsessed and non-conventional-varietal-curiosity-specifically-committed boutique in the Paso Robles wine corridor.
Neil and JackieNeil and Jackie Collins, whose founding obsession with both the most individually Italian-variety-specifically-committed (Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Barbera) and the most individually Rhône-variety-specifically-curious (Grenache, Mourvèdre, Counoise) Paso Robles wine production led them to the most unusually dual-tradition-varietal-commitment approach available from any Paso Robles boutique, established the Peachy Canyon Road estate in 2002 as the most personally Italian-AND-Rhône-dually-obsessed and historically-Paderewski-heritage-vine-connected Paso Robles appointment.
The Paderewski VineyardThe Paderewski Vineyard connection, the historic Paso Robles vineyard planted by the legendary Polish concert pianist and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski, who purchased Paso Robles property in 1913 and whose Zinfandel heritage plantings represent some of the most historically consequential and genetically precious old vine material in the Paso Robles wine district, provides Lone Madrone's most historically heritage-vine-connected and personally Paderewski-legacy-tribute-named Zinfandel production.
