About McPrice Myers Wine
McPrice Mac Myers found wine stocking shelves at a Southern California Trader Joe's, fell for Northern Rhone Syrah, and at 24 discovered that Central Coast Wine Services would lease custom-crush space to anyone with used barrels and nerve. His first wine, a 2002 Larner Vineyard Syrah he still makes today, launched a self-taught career that came up alongside Paso's golden-age class of Cris Cherry, Eric Jensen, Justin Smith and Scott Hawley. With Russell From he ran the Barrel 27 label from 2003, and his 2005 Terra Bella Syrah began the McPrice Myers Beautiful Earth series.
In 2014 Myers moved the winery to an 84-acre Adelaida District property, and in 2017 wine club member turned co-owner Venus Lai, an accomplished scientist and fermentation expert, partnered with him to buy the estate outright, expanding its 20 acres of vines and releasing the first estate wine in 2020. A hilltop guesthouse followed, then in June 2025 a solar-powered tasting venue built partly from repurposed shipping containers. The four-brand portfolio runs from the $25 Hard Working Wines tier, led by Bull by the Horns Cabernet, to the flagship estate bottlings, all worn with Myers's signature black Dickies, Irish Claddagh labels and a hand-drawn Believe sign over the cellar door.
