About Melanson Vineyard
Melanson Vineyard is a 42-acre estate on Pritchard Hill, in the eastern hills of Napa Valley, with 10.5 acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (Clones 7 and 337) at roughly 1,200 feet elevation. The site's Sobrante loam volcanic soils and south/west-facing exposure sit above the valley fog line, and grapes and finished wine are marketed under the Melanson name through the family's own site and select retailers such as ACME Fine Wines.
Rather than a tasting-room winery, Melanson functions primarily as a small-production vineyard: fruit from the property also appears as a named source in vineyard-designate bottlings from other Napa producers, including Pulido~Walker, TOR Wines and Castello di Amorosa. Melanson's own limited-production wines are described as full-bodied and built to drink well for at least two decades, and are sold through third-party retailers rather than at estate visits.
