About Mending Wall Winery
Mending Wall was founded in 2014 as a partnership between Frank and Kathy Dotzler (co-founders of Outpost Winery), Mark Pulido and Donna Walker of Pulido-Walker Wine, and winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. Ground broke in April 2014 and the first harvest followed that same fall; the name is drawn from Robert Frost's poem of the same name and its line 'good fences make good neighbors.'
The winery sits at 3730 Silverado Trail, in the far northeast corner of the St. Helena appellation in the Howell Mountain foothills near the Calistoga border. Thomas Rivers Brown sources grapes from small, family-owned vineyards across the valley floor and hillsides, blending them into limited-production wines; annual output has grown from roughly 2,000 to about 4,000 cases since founding.
