About Moon Hollow Estate Wines
Moon Hollow Estate Wines is a family-owned winery set high in the Moon Mountain District of Sonoma, on a dramatic 740-acre property that straddles the Sonoma and Napa county line. The estate was purchased in 2011 by Xochi and Michael Birch, and the vineyard is farmed sustainably and CCOF-certified organic; its high elevation, coastal climate and surrounding wild vegetation lend the wines notable complexity and herbal character.
All of Moon Hollow's wines are estate-grown, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache and Syrah, plus a white blend, made in small batches with an estate collection more than a decade in the making.
In July 2024 the winery opened its first tasting room in a historic brick building on the northeast corner of the Sonoma Plaza. The chic space blends modern elegance with farmhouse charm and offers both indoor seating and an outdoor patio lounge with fire pits. Open daily for reservations and walk-ins, it serves wines by the glass, bottle service and curated flights, including comparative tastings that pair current releases with beautifully cellared back vintages.
