About Oso Libre Winery
Oso Libre Winery is named for the free bear — the California grizzly bear that once roamed the hills of the Coast Ranges and now appears only on the state flag, a symbol of wild California before civilization constrained it. The free bear philosophy applies to winemaking: produce wines without the constraints of market expectations, scores culture, and commercial pressure.
The Templeton Gap District estate produces Zinfandel and Grenache from west-side Paso Robles vineyards with the same freedom the name promises — wines that express the estate and the vintage rather than a predetermined style designed for maximum critical appeal.
The daily walk-in tasting room is dog-friendly, picnic-welcoming, and family-hospitable — the free bear's wild California spirit expressed as accessible Templeton Gap hospitality.
