Paso de Record Vineyard is an Adelaida District estate producing Grenache and Syrah from some of the highest-elevation and most calcareous vineyard sites in the Paso Robles appellation. Founded in 2011, the estate takes its name from El Paso de Robles, the historical Spanish name for the pass through the oak trees, combined with "record," a declaration of the winery's ambition to produce benchmark-level wines from this challenging Westside terrain.
The Adelaida District sits on the western side of Paso Robles, where elevation, limestone bedrock, and marine influence from the Pacific create growing conditions dramatically different from the warmer eastern side of the appellation. Grenache thrives in these conditionsthe calcareous soils stress the vines appropriately, the elevation moderates temperatures, and the marine influence preserves the natural acidity that allows Grenache to achieve genuine complexity rather than simple fruit weight.
