About Peter Franus Wine Company
Peter Franus began his winemaking career in 1980 as a viticulturist on Mount Veeder and released his first wine under his own name in 1987, driven by a passion for old-vine Zinfandel. He left his post as head winemaker at Mt. Veeder Winery in 1992 to focus full-time on his own label, which he formally rebranded as Peter Franus Wine Company in 2001.
The winery is a 'virtual winery', it owns no vineyards or tasting facility of its own; wines are made at the Laird Family Estate production facility north of the city of Napa. Franus sources fruit from a range of appellations, most notably the century-old Brandlin Vineyard on Mount Veeder for his flagship Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel, alongside Lake County and other Napa Valley sites for Albariño, Merlot, and Mourvèdre.
