About Peter Franus Wine Company
Peter Franus Wine Company is the surname-eponymous project of Peter Franus — his name on his wine, his winemaking philosophy expressed in his own label rather than behind someone else's brand. Franus spent years as a consulting and staff winemaker for various Napa Valley estates before establishing his personal project, which focuses on old-vine Zinfandel from heritage plantings alongside Cabernet Sauvignon from Mount Veeder mountain sources.
The old-vine Zinfandel program is the estate's most distinctive offering: Franus sources from some of Napa Valley's most ancient heritage plantings, including own-rooted vines dating to the pre-Prohibition era. These old-vine blocks produce Zinfandel of a concentration and complexity that younger vine Zinfandel cannot replicate, and Franus handles them with the restraint that allows the old-vine character to express itself without winemaking overlay.
The Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon adds structural intensity and volcanic mountain minerality to the lineup.
