About PlumpJack Winery
PlumpJack Winery sits on a century-old, 53-acre estate in Oakville, within the Oakville AVA in Napa Valley. The PlumpJack Collection began as a San Francisco wine shop founded in 1992 by Gordon Getty and Gavin Newsom (later California's governor), and the group acquired the Oakville vineyard property in 1997 to launch the winery.
PlumpJack made industry news in 1997 as one of the first Napa producers to release a high-end wine, its Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, under a Stelvin screwcap instead of natural cork - a then-controversial move for a fine wine. The estate farms Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Sangiovese, producing roughly 12,500 cases a year under longtime general manager John Conover and winemaker Aaron Miller.
