About Pott Wine
Pott Wine is the eponymous label of winemaker Aaron Pott, who founded the project with his wife Claire in 2004 after purchasing a 76-acre former prune orchard on Mt. Veeder at roughly 1,600 feet elevation. Pott built his reputation as assistant winemaker at Newton Vineyard, international winemaker at Beringer, and primary winemaker at St. Clement and Quintessa before launching his own label.
The estate, nicknamed 'Châteauneuf-du-Pott,' is a roughly 10-acre vineyard farmed organically and biodynamically across eight micro-blocks of marine-origin, fossil-bearing soil, planted mainly to two Cabernet Sauvignon clones plus Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small block of Viognier. Wines are released in extremely limited quantities, typically under 200 cases per bottling, and sold exclusively through the winery's mailing list, with no public tasting room, walk-in visits, or regular tours.
