About Provenance Vineyards
The Provenance Vineyards estate that this page describes, a Rutherford tasting room on Highway 29, first released in 1999 and reopened as a winery in 2003 on a site that previously housed Chateau Beaucanon, no longer operates under that name. In November 2021, then-owner Treasury Wine Estates sold the physical Rutherford property to fellow Napa producer Far Niente, which converted it into a new dedicated home for its own 'Bella Union' brand, completing a purpose-built winery there in 2024.
Separately, Treasury sold the Provenance Vineyards brand name and trademark to the Lombardi family's Thomas Allen Vineyards & Winery, headquartered in Lodi, California, which renamed its whole operation Provenance Vineyards around 2021 to 2022. That company still markets Napa Valley-sourced Cabernet Sauvignon (including bottlings referencing Wildwood and Howell Mountain vineyards) under the Provenance name, but it is run from Lodi and no Rutherford/Napa Valley tasting room could be confirmed for the brand today.
The Rutherford building that once housed Provenance Vineyards is now Far Niente's Bella Union winery; the Provenance name lives on under new, Lodi-based ownership.
