About Quintessa
Quintessa is a 280-acre Rutherford estate designed around the relationship between a single property and a single flagship wine. The site includes hills, valleys, a lake, multiple soil types and varied exposures. Rather than presenting the vineyard as a uniform block, the winery treats its individual parcels separately before creating the final blend. That estate philosophy shapes the visitor experience.
Appointments combine a guided look at the property with seated tastings of current and library vintages. The Quintessential Experience leads guests to a private open-air pavilion surrounded by vineyards, where the flight can include finished wines and barrel samples that help explain how the final blend is assembled. The Communal Estate Experience adds a scenic walk and a shared tasting with one other party. Limited seasonal formats may offer more privacy or additional culinary elements.
Quintessa is open for appointments Thursday through Monday and is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. All guests must be 21 or older. Party sizes are intentionally small, and reservations are charged in advance. The estate's outdoor and walking components make weather, footwear and mobility relevant planning considerations. Guests who need accommodation should contact the concierge before booking.
This winery is best for collectors, couples and visitors interested in vineyard design, blending and a highly controlled estate experience. It also appeals to travelers who want the tasting to remain visually connected to the land.
