About Silver Mountain Vineyards
Silver Mountain Vineyards has been hiding in plain sight at 2,100 feet since 1979, when founder and winemaker Jerold O'Brien planted vines high above Los Gatos near Summit Road. The perch delivers a spectacular sweep of Monterey Bay over redwood forest, and a climate of warm days and cool nights that stretches hang time and concentrates flavor.
The estate vineyard is certified organic, planted to Mount Eden clone Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Merlot, supplemented by sustainably farmed hillside fruit for Zinfandel, Cabernet, and more. The house calling cards: organically grown Estate Chardonnays, gold-medal Pinot Noirs from the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Lucia Highlands, and the Alloy Bordeaux blend - one of the widest selections in the appellation, with Sonnet Wine Cellars (from consulting winemaker Tony Craig) poured alongside.
The mountaintop estate opens Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 5, with picnic tables, leashed dogs welcome, and members-day library pours a beloved tradition. A second tasting room at 328D Ingalls Street in Santa Cruz's Westside wine district keeps the same weekend hours. Private events on the summit come with the best view in the range.
