About Venteux Vineyards
Venteux Vineyards is named for the French word for windy — venteux — declaring that the wind is this estate's most important terroir factor. The Paso Robles wind is real and daily: the Templeton Gap marine breeze pushes through the Santa Lucia Range gap each afternoon, dropping temperatures dramatically and extending the growing season in ways that distinguish west-side Paso Robles from the warmer east-side climate.
The Union Road estate experiences this wind directly, and the Grenache, Chardonnay, and Syrah produced here reflect the wind's cooling influence: wines with more freshness and structure than purely east-side Paso Robles typically achieves, carrying the maritime character that the daily venteux delivers.
The French naming aligns with the Rhône variety focus — venteux references the Mistral wind of the Rhône Valley, connecting the Paso Robles wind to its French analog in one of the world's most important Grenache-growing regions.
