About Viszlay Vineyards
Viszlay Vineyards is a family-owned boutique winery perched atop a vineyard-covered hill on Limerick Lane, just south of downtown Healdsburg in the Russian River Valley, with sweeping views toward Fitch Mountain. Owner-winemaker John Viszlay moved from Chicago in 2010 to begin a second career in wine, planting a ten-acre estate on the site of a former prune farm where a creek runs down to the Russian River.
Everything is estate-grown and small-lot: the vineyard is planted to twelve varieties, including the only Prosecco grapes in all of Sonoma County, and made into an award-winning range that includes the signature Five Vines Bordeaux-style blend, Chardonnay, a 91-point Pinot Noir, a Cabernet-Merlot blend, Zinfandel and a Best-of-Class Petite Sirah. Farming is sustainable and the whole operation is refreshingly personal.
Tastings, by reservation, take place on the hillside terrace right among the vines, and most days you'll get to meet and chat with the winemaker himself, with a guesthouse on site for those who want to linger.
