About VJB Cellars
VJB Cellars at 9077 Sonoma Highway is the Sonoma Valley's most distinctively Italian wine estate, founded in 2002 by the Buoncristiani family with a commitment to producing Sangiovese, Barbera, and Nebbiolo from Sonoma Valley fruit while creating a visitor experience that reflects the warmth, generosity, and food-centered hospitality of Italian wine culture. The estate's trattoria, marketplace, and bocce courts create an atmosphere that makes a visit feel genuinely like a meal at an Italian family winery.
The Italian varietal focus is rare and distinctive in the Sonoma Valley, where most producers concentrate on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. VJB's commitment to Sangiovese, Barbera, and Nebbiolo reflects the family's belief that the Sonoma Valley's warm growing season and diverse soil profiles can produce Italian varieties with genuine character and food-friendliness. The Sangiovese program is the flagship — cherry-bright, acidic, and perfectly suited to the trattoria food pairing that defines the VJB experience.
Walk-ins are welcome daily from 11am to 5pm with a $20 starting fee. The Sonoma Highway location makes VJB easily accessible from both the city of Sonoma to the south and the Kenwood wine corridor to the north, and the full food-and-wine experience makes it one of the most complete and memorable afternoon destinations on the entire Sonoma Valley wine trail.
"VJB is the Italian heart of the Sonoma Valley wine trail — a family estate bringing Tuscan varietals and Sonoma Valley fruit together in a genuinely welcoming trattoria setting that makes wine tasting feel like a family meal."
