About Walt Wines
WALT Wines is one of California's most personally motivated and geographically ambitious Pinot Noir programs. Kathryn Walt Hall, whose husband Craig Hall built Hall Wines into one of Napa Valley's most prominent Cabernet Sauvignon estates, founded WALT in 2012 as an entirely personal expression named for her grandmother: a fiercely independent woman who loved great wine and whose spirit of curiosity and determination informs every wine WALT makes.
The program spans four of the finest cool-climate Pinot Noir regions in the American West: Anderson Valley, Sonoma Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands, and Oregon's Willamette Valley, each selected for its ability to produce Pinot Noir of genuine site-specific character. Winemaker Megan Gunderson Paredes applies a consistent minimal-intervention philosophy across all regions, allowing each vineyard's genuine personality to emerge without stylistic manipulation.
The Sonoma downtown tasting room provides appointment-based access to a program that has earned consistent critical recognition across all four of its source regions. For visitors who want to understand how different cool-climate growing regions produce distinctly different Pinot Noir personalities in the hands of a single winemaker with a consistent philosophy, WALT is the ideal educational destination.
