About Walt Wines
WALT Wines is one of California's most personally motivated and geographically ambitious Pinot Noir programs. Kathryn Walt Hall — whose husband Craig Hall built Hall Wines into one of Napa Valley's most prominent Cabernet Sauvignon estates — founded WALT in 2012 as an entirely personal expression named for her grandmother: a fiercely independent woman who loved great wine and whose spirit of curiosity and determination informs every wine WALT makes.
The program spans four of the finest cool-climate Pinot Noir regions in the American West: Anderson Valley, Sonoma Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands, and Oregon's Willamette Valley — each selected for its ability to produce Pinot Noir of genuine site-specific character. Winemaker Megan Gunderson Paredes applies a consistent minimal-intervention philosophy across all regions, allowing each vineyard's genuine personality to emerge without stylistic manipulation.
The Sonoma downtown tasting room provides appointment-based access to a program that has earned consistent critical recognition across all four of its source regions. For visitors who want to understand how different cool-climate growing regions produce distinctly different Pinot Noir personalities in the hands of a single winemaker with a consistent philosophy, WALT is the ideal educational destination.
