About KIND Cellars
KIND Cellars traces its beginnings to New England, where David and Wendy Yorgensen's love of wine grew into a desire to make their own. David, a custom home builder at the time, immersed himself in the subject, reading and researching everything he could find about growing grapes, winemaking and the business of wine. In 2004 the couple left Vermont for the Napa Valley, where an internship deepened his education and set him on the path to becoming a winemaker.
David, who serves as co-proprietor and winemaker, has built KIND on partnerships with the farmers, growers and fellow winemakers he has come to know across the valley. His approach in the cellar is deliberately restrained: rather than overprocessing or forcing a house style, he aims to let each wine develop its own character, so that every KIND vintage carries its own aroma, texture and finish. The result is a small, personal Napa Valley label rooted in patience and respect for what the fruit brings on its own.
Visits are intentionally intimate. KIND offers a limited number of tasting experiences on Sundays at its St. Helena facility, each by reservation only. The roughly 90-minute visit pairs a tour of the space with a private, seated tasting of a range of the wines, hosted by one of the proprietors, so guests hear the story of the label first-hand. Mail reaches the winery at a P.O. box in Angwin, above the valley, but the tasting itself takes place in St. Helena, with the exact address shared once a reservation is confirmed.
A custom home builder turned winemaker, David Yorgensen crossed the country for Napa in 2004 and built KIND on partnership and a light hand in the cellar.
