Lingua Franca is named for the concept of the lingua franca — the common language that allows communication between people who don't share a native tongue. Applied to wine, the lingua franca philosophy declares wine as a universal communicating medium: the bottle that speaks across cultures, languages, and borders, creating conversation where other forms of communication might fail. The estate is a collaboration between Larry Stone (master sommelier) and Thomas Savre (winemaker), producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Willamette Valley estate sources with the universal-language philosophy the naming implies.
