About Meteor Vineyard
Meteor Vineyard was established in 1998 when Barry and Tracy Schuler, Barry a former AOL chairman, purchased a 40-acre knoll in Napa Valley's Coombsville appellation. Viticulturist Mike Wolf oversaw planting beginning in 1999, and for years the fruit was sold to acclaimed producers such as Etude, Arietta, and Lail Vineyards before the Schulers released their own label starting with the 2005 vintage.
The estate's roughly 22.5 planted acres sit on volcanic, ancient-riverbed soil cooled by fog and breezes off San Pablo Bay, prized for structured, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemakers Bill and Dawnine Dyer craft the wines toward elegance and balance, producing just two bottlings - the Perseid Cabernet Sauvignon (about 700 cases) and a Special Family Reserve (about 100 cases) - sold mostly through an allocation list.
