About Pahlmeyer Winery
Pahlmeyer was founded in 1986 by Jayson Pahlmeyer, who launched the winery with Bordeaux vine cuttings brought back from France, aiming to prove Napa Valley could produce world-class Cabernet-based blends. The estate's roots are in mountain fruit sourced from vineyards including Waters Ranch, Vangone, Upper Range and leased acreage at Atlas Peak's Stagecoach Vineyard, with the winery's operational base in the southeast Napa Valley/Oakville area rather than a single named town estate.
In November 2019, E. & J. Gallo Winery acquired the Pahlmeyer and Jayson by Pahlmeyer brands (the Wayfarer brand and vineyard were excluded from the sale); Jayson Pahlmeyer and his daughter Cleo have remained connected to the label, and winemaker Katie Vogt has led production since 2019. The wines are built around concentrated, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux-style red blends and a barrel-fermented Chardonnay, released across three tiers: Pahlmeyer Icons, the more accessible Jayson by Pahlmeyer, and the small-lot 'Les Élus.'
