Waugh Family Wines

Founder Ryan Waugh built his winemaking career the hard way, working at Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains while in school, then commuting two hours each way to a job at Mt. Veeder's Chateau Potelle, followed by stints at Trefethen and as the first non-family employee hired at Del Dotto. He later met his wife Crystal, who now helps run the winery, while pouring his own wines in the lobby of Yountville's Villagio Hotel.

Ryan is known for hands-on vineyard management even with sourced fruit, once spending three years replanting the trellising on a Petite Sirah vineyard and refusing to release any wine until the quality met his standard. He does no acid adjustment on his wines, and every bottle carries the distinctive "W" on its label, alongside a second label, Six Degrees, focused on Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon.
