Wheeler Farms Winery

Matthew Vann first planted grapes on this St. Helena land in 1865, using Mission grape cuttings supplied by John Patchett, Napa Valley's very first winery owner. The property later became Wheeler Farms under John Hoffman Wheeler, who built the operation into one of Napa's early wine pioneers, producing up to 100,000 gallons of wine and brandy annually from 1885 until Prohibition forced the vines out in favor of fruit orchards.

After passing through a Japanese investment firm that abandoned winery plans following the 2011 tsunami, Bart and Daphne Araujo bought the historic property in 2014, having recently sold their renowned Araujo Estate and Eisele Vineyard. The Araujos built a state-of-the-art custom-crush winemaking facility that has produced multiple 100-point wines for partner brands, alongside heritage fruit orchards, chickens, and bees, before selling Wheeler Farms in November 2024 to Suzanne Deal Booth, owner of Bella Oaks Winery.
