About Whitehall Lane Winery
Two brothers built Whitehall Lane in 1979 on Rutherford soil that settlers had recognized for its gravelly loam as early as the mid-1800s, naming the winery for the road running along its southern border. The Leonardini family bought the estate in 1993, on what proprietor Katie Leonardini calls a leap of faith, modernizing the barrel-aging program and bringing a more scientific approach to the vineyards.
The family has since expanded to eight estate vineyards across Rutherford, St. Helena, Oak Knoll, Sonoma Valley, and the Petaluma Gap, reaching full estate-grown production after adding an eighth vineyard in 2019. Whitehall Lane is now in its third generation, with winemaker Jason Moulton crafting Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that Wine Spectator has ranked among the world's top five wines on three separate occasions.
