About Whetstone Wine Cellars
Jamey Whetstone, originally from South Carolina, founded Whetstone Wine Cellars in 2002 with his wife Michelle, who grew up in Napa Valley, focusing the label on single-vineyard, single-varietal wines. Jamey built relationships with growers across the North Coast, including a longtime source in Sonoma's Russian River Valley introduced to him by Patz & Hall, and a hillside site near Sea Ranch with ocean views on the Sonoma Coast.
In 2013, the winery moved its tasting room into an 1885 French-style chateau on Atlas Peak Road, a two-acre property next to Del Dotto Winery. Guests taste fireside in the historic building during cooler months or outdoors beneath century-old oak trees in warmer weather, sampling Whetstone's Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and rare varietal bottlings like a 100% Viognier from the Russian River Valley.
