About Arrowood Vineyards & Winery
Arrowood Vineyards & Winery represents one of Sonoma Valley's most enduring winemaking legacies. Richard Arrowood — who spent over two decades as head winemaker at Chateau St. Jean where he made the Cinq Cépages Cabernet Sauvignon that earned a 100-point score from Wine Spectator in 1999 — established his own Sonoma Highway estate in 1986 with a vision of producing estate wines that would reflect his personal winemaking philosophy rather than a large company's commercial objectives.
The Glen Ellen estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, and Viognier from Sonoma Valley estate and carefully selected sourcing partnerships. The winemaking philosophy reflects Arrowood's decades of Sonoma Valley experience: food-first, structurally balanced wines that reward cellaring while remaining accessible in their youth. Wine Spectator has consistently recognized Arrowood as one of Sonoma Valley's most accomplished estates.
The daily walk-in tasting experience with picnic grounds and Sonoma Valley views reflects the genuine hospitality that Richard Arrowood — who believes that wine should be shared generously and experienced at the table rather than evaluated in isolation — has always extended to the visitors who make the Glen Ellen estate a destination.
