About HdV
HdV — Hyde de Villaine — is the Franco-American wine partnership between the Hyde family of Napa Valley's famed Hyde Vineyard and Aubert de Villaine, co-owner of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. This extraordinary collaboration brings Burgundian sensibility to one of Carneros' greatest vineyard sites, producing Chardonnay, Syrah, and a Bordeaux blend of exceptional pedigree and finesse.
The Hyde Vineyard is one of California's most celebrated, with plantings dating to 1979 on the rolling hills of Carneros. The partnership with de Villaine brings a Burgundian focus on terroir expression and restraint. Chardonnay is the flagship — whole-cluster pressed, barrel-fermented, and aged in French oak with minimal intervention. The Syrah shows a Northern Rhône character rare in California, with violet, pepper, and a savory mineral spine. The blend, called Belle Cousine, combines Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in a structured Carneros expression.
HdV wines are available through their mailing list and by appointment. The tasting experience is intimate and focused, offering a rare opportunity to experience wines from one of California's most historic vineyard sites guided by one of the most distinguished winemaking partnerships in the world.
