About Modus Operandi Cellars
Modus Operandi Cellars was founded in 2004 by Jason Moore, who moved to Napa Valley at age 24 with $5,000 and no formal winemaking training, working as a self-taught "garagist" before releasing an initial 8-barrel batch of Cabernet Sauvignon. Tastings are now held at The Caves at Soda Canyon, a mountaintop cave facility at roughly 1,500 feet elevation at 2275 Soda Canyon Road, Napa.
The winery produces single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (from vineyards including Rocca, Houyi, Sage Ridge and Edcora) and single-vineyard Pinot Noir from sites such as Gap's Crown and Bacigalupi, alongside Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc; several bottlings, including the experimental "Antithesis" lot, have drawn scores in the high 90s from critics. A separate "Vicarious" label offers more accessible, crowd-pleasing wines, and the winery runs tiered wine clubs including a monthly MoPay payment option.
