About Painted Vineyard
Painted Vineyard is a family estate in the heart of Paonia, in the West Elks AVA, that began in 2015 when the owners bought an open horse field with a vision to build something special. Every vine was planted by hand, and over the years they restored two historic log cabins on the property, one now serving as a four-bedroom bed and breakfast.
The winery, cellar, and cozy tasting room were built to let visitors see the artistry behind each bottle, and the wines are aged in real oak barrels and bottled unfiltered, preserving a full-bodied texture and pure flavor. The property sits at the front gate of the historic Black Bridge, a black iron span rumored to have been shipped from Europe in 1939, which crosses the North Fork of the Gunnison River. Guests can stroll the grounds, tour the restored cabin, and taste robust reds and crisp whites on the deck with gourmet cheese plates.
Hours, tasting fees, and reservation policies change with the season, so it is worth checking the winery's website or calling ahead before you visit, especially on weekends. The details on this profile may have shifted since publication, and the producer is always the most authoritative source.
