About Priest Ranch
Priest Ranch takes its name from Joshua James Priest, a gold-rush-era settler; the first vines on the property were planted in 1972. Allan and Kathleen Chapman acquired the 660-acre Priest Ranch in 2004 and later purchased the adjacent 955-acre Elder Valley Ranch, combining both into the 1,682-acre Somerston Estate above Lake Hennessey. The Priest Ranch tasting room operates separately in the village of Yountville, at 6488 Washington Street.
Wines are estate-grown across Somerston's varied elevations and soils, spanning Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Sauvignon Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Zinfandel and Petit Verdot, plus a Brut Rosé of Syrah. The winemaking and viticulture program was shaped by co-founder Craig Becker, Director of Winemaking & Viticulture, who passed away in 2024.
Priest Ranch's tasting room sits in downtown Yountville, but its estate fruit is grown miles away on the Chapman family's 1,682-acre Somerston Ranch.
