About Marston Family Vineyard
Grapes have grown on this Spring Mountain property since the 1890s, when the Kramm family first planted vines by horse and plow. Al Menasco bought the estate in 1949, and Michael and Alexandra Marston acquired it in 1969, becoming sole owners by 1976 and establishing the Marston Family Vineyard label.
The 400-acre estate sits at the end of White Sulphur Springs Road west of St. Helena in the Spring Mountain District AVA, at elevations of 800 to 1,300 feet; only about 10% is planted to vines, with roughly 220 acres placed in a Napa Land Trust conservation easement in the mid-1980s. Winemaking has passed through a notable lineage, André Tchelistcheff, Philippe Melka, and currently Marbue Marke, producing a flagship 100% Cabernet Sauvignon in limited quantities.
Only about 10% of Marston Family Vineyard's 400-acre Spring Mountain estate is planted to vines; most of the rest is in conservation.
