About Massican Wines
Massican was founded in 2009 by Dan Petroski, who spent nearly 15 years making Cabernet Sauvignon at Larkmead Vineyards before launching this Napa-based label devoted to Mediterranean- and Italian-style white wines. In August 2023, Petroski sold Massican to E. & J. Gallo's Luxury Wine Group; Gallo's own announcement describes Petroski staying on as winemaker and partner, with the brand's production (about 7,500 cases at the time of sale) continuing to grow under the new ownership.
Massican has no estate vineyard or traditional tasting room, it sources hand-harvested fruit from more than a dozen vineyard sites across Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lodi, fermenting each vineyard lot separately with minimal intervention. As of recent vintages roughly two-thirds of that fruit came from certified-organic vineyards, and the wines are released under a mix of Napa Valley and broader North Coast/California appellations depending on the bottling.
