About Martin Estate
Martin Estate occupies a stone château in Rutherford originally built in 1887 as H.H. Harris Cellars; Georges de Latour leased the property starting in 1907 to produce early Beaulieu Vineyard wines, and the Cebrian family later renamed it Puerta Dorada in 1940. A 1970 fire destroyed much of the original stone building before Greg and Petra Martin acquired the 12-acre property in 1996, becoming only the third family to own it and renaming it Martin Estate.
The winery is Napa Green certified and produces wines exclusively from its own roughly 8 planted acres, with every bottle estate-grown, produced, and bottled on site. The Martins focus solely on Cabernet Sauvignon, hand-selecting fruit across up to 10 harvest passes and fermenting each Cabernet clone separately in French oak that is used only once.
