About McCarthy Family Estate Vineyards

McCarthy Family Estate is six acres in the foothills above Los Gatos, planted on a steep, naturally draining slope with southwest exposure. The vines are dry farmed and organically grown, and the whole output is a single limited-production Cabernet Sauvignon.

The site has a longer Cabernet history than the winery does. Jesuits were growing Cabernet on the contiguous parcel more than a century ago, and the McCarthy planting continues that line rather than starting a new one.

The first harvest came in 2006, off vines mostly three years old, and produced very little wine. Quantities have stayed deliberately small since.

There is no tasting room. The winery is not open to the public, so the wine is found through the winery directly rather than by visiting.

Six dry-farmed acres above Los Gatos, on ground the Jesuits planted to Cabernet a century ago.
